Dear reader, The most ambitious phase of Northern Ireland's coronavirus vaccination programme is set to begin. The Department of Health here has announced the commencement of 'phase two' of the roll-out and pledged to complete it by the end of next month. Niall Deeney has written the following article, where he explains how the department plans to immunise up to half a million people from coronavirus in the space of just 35 days. Phase two, he explains, will involve the vaccination of everyone in the Province aged between 65 and 79, and everyone with underlying health conditions. The hopes on vaccinations at least provides optimism in the face of the tragic news from around Northern Ireland. The Department of Health confirmed the deaths of another 16 people with Covid-19, with another 527 people having tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. The total number of patients in NI hospitals being treated for coronavirus currently stands at 775 with 68 of these in intensive care. Alistair Bushe, Editor
