Dear reader, Northern Ireland has passed another milestone in its coronavirus vaccination effort. Health Minister Robin Swann confirmed on Friday afternoon that more than 300,000 vaccinations have now taken place in the Province, comprising 275,232 first doses and 26,047 second doses. Confirmation of that significant milestone came as Downing Street announced that all adults aged 50 in the UK and above should have received a coronavirus vaccination by early May. It was a day of positive news on vaccinations but the sad news about more deaths related to the virus continued. The Department of Health confirmed that another 16 people who had the virus have passed away. Meanwhile, another 506 positive tests for the virus were recorded over the last 24 hours, an increase of 23 per cent on the previous day. These are very difficult times, but I hope you are able to enjoy your weekend in lockdown.
