Dear reader, Northern Ireland has passed a hugely symbolic milestone for Covid-19 vaccinations. The Department of Health has confirmed that more than 500,000 vaccinations have been carried out in the Province. Of these, more than 478,000 people have received first doses of the vaccine while 31,345 people have received both doses. Health Minister Robin Swann welcomed the milestone being reached at his press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, but warned against complacency and issued dire warnings about the dangers of people lifting their guard. The minister also defended the controversial decision not to bring back schoolchildren back to the classroom in Northern Ireland next month, with a staggered return of pupils in P1-P3 having attracted heavy criticism. The pattern of falling Covid-19 related deaths continued, with two more deaths related to the virus recorded on Wednesday. Another 260 fresh infections were recorded.
